FOR ACNE-PRONE SKIN

Pore-Clogging Ingredient Checker

Acne Ingredient Checker

Below, you'll find Sarah Moon Facial Studio's pore-clogging ingredient checker.
This tool is designed to check personal care products for potentially clogging ingredients.

You can use this tool to check your:
Makeup products (foundation, concealer, bronzer, blush, primer, setting sprays, etc.)
Hair products (shampoo, conditioner, leave-ins, oils, scalp treatments, etc.)
Body products (body wash, lotions, sunscreens, toothpaste, etc.)

Please Note:

  • This scanner is intended as a helpful tool for acne-prone individuals.

    • If you do not have acne-prone skin or are not actively dealing with breakouts, you likely do not need to use this Ingredient Checker.

  • There is nuance to the comedogenicity scale.

    • We view it mostly as a *guide* to help advise product purchasing decisions.

    • Our scanner uses a bank of Sarah's most common 'ingredients to avoid' when clearing her acne clients.

  • Just because a product comes back as not acne-safe does not mean it is a bad product.

    • It just means it potentially wasn't formulated with acne-prone skin in mind. ☻

How to use our Ingredient Checker

  1. For each of your products, find the ingredient deck online (usually included within a manufacturer's product listing page).

  2. Copy and paste this list of ingredients into the box below and press the 'Check Ingredients' button.

  3. A message will then appear stating whether or not your product is considered acne-safe or if it contains known pore-cloggers.

DISCLAIMERS

  • We recommend using this tool every 4-6 months to check your products as it is common for brands to change formulas without any notice.

  • While this tool includes all ingredients our Estheticians recommend avoiding, this does not mean all products that come back as 'acne-safe' are 100% okay for acne-prone skin. A few reasons for this:

    • Depending on the manufacturer, some ingredients are listed differently and our scanner may not pick up on all iterations of an ingredient name.

    • Typos.

    • New ingredients are constantly being introduced to the market.

    • Individual client differences. Our checker scans for the ingredients we recommend avoiding, but ultimately, your skin has the final word with what it likes!

  • If you have any questions, please reach out to us and we'll be happy to help!
